The Word No One Used to Say & Now Must:
Menopause
Nobody is talking about this. Not at work, not at the doctor’s office, and not to each other.
Employers are losing experienced women and can’t say why. Those same women are being told their labs are normal and they should try to relax.
Same silence, two sides of it. I’m Staci West, and I work on both.
For your organization
A new state law. An executive order. A question from your board. Something put this on your desk, and you need a straight answer about where you actually stand before it becomes a bigger problem than it needs to be.
Or nothing put this on your desk yet. You already believe your most experienced women deserve better than what they’re getting, and you’d rather build that well than explain later why you didn’t.
Either way, waiting has a cost. Organizations that don’t prepare end up scrambling when a requirement lands on a deadline they didn’t choose. Organizations that don’t look end up losing the people who carry the most institutional knowledge — sometimes without ever finding out why.
For the woman in it
The 3am wake-ups. The brain fog where a word you’ve used your whole life just isn’t there. The rage that shows up out of nowhere and embarrasses you. The creeping sense that you don’t quite recognize the person doing your job and living your life.
You’ve been told your labs are normal. You’ve been told to rest, lower your stress, try a massage.
You were told wrong. Not lied to, necessarily — but not told the truth either, because most of the people you’re asking were never taught it.
Why I am motivated to help you.
I started this after my own labs came back at 49 with testosterone near zero, and nobody had ever thought to check. I got answers fast because I happened to know who to ask.
That’s luck. And luck is not acceptable as a system.
Welcome to the honest space between a medical system that dismisses and a wellness industry that exploits.

In March, more than 125 women in the Tri-Cities came out on to watch a documentary about perimenopause and hear a panel of experts answer the questions their doctors hadn’t. Nobody had to be talked into showing up.
That’s the whole thesis. Women aren’t uninterested in their own health. They’ve just been handed nothing worth their time.
A dozen businesses participated and reinforced the resources available to women — when they can find them.
